School Council

Lightwater Village School council members play a big part in helping make our school a happy place to be! Children from each class meet on a regular basis to talk about what's going on and what you would like to do to make our school better.

Last year the school council members ran a stall at our Summer Fete and helped to choose our golden time choices over the year. This coming year there are several opportunities for the school council to have their say and to represent their peers when decisions are made within school.

January 2020 Update:

The school councillors enjoyed their first meeting of the year with a focus on lunchtimes. The children suggested that there be somewhere to go if people were feeling sad and we came to the agreement that a 'friendship bench' would be the best idea. The children were keen to have a part in the designing of the sign, so we have agreed that, at the next meeting, we will design our signs together.

The children also suggested that some of the older children could help in disagreement settling, or help children find friends. We will be expanding on our idea of 'playground pals' and how they would work, in our next meeting.

Keep the great ideas coming school council!!
