About Our School

Lightwater Village School is a high achieving and successful school serving the community of Lightwater and the surrounding villages. Our school is vibrant and interesting with staff striving to achieve the best learning environment to meet the needs of every individual child. Our staff are dedicated, supportive, patient and caring, providing a structure that enables children to feel safe, motivated and appropriately challenged. Lightwater Village School values the support of families in supporting the development of the whole child and its ethos is to know all the pupils individually, both academically and socially.

Our school is part of the Federation of Lightwater Schools, working alongside Hammond School. This, and our collaboration with other local schools and partnerships, enables us to learn from each other, increase our capacity and build on already good practice to improve learning and teaching.

Each year group has two mixed ability and mixed gender classes and each class has a dedicated teacher and a teaching assistant. Classrooms are large, bright and well resourced. Children are encouraged to select resources they need and work together to keep their classrooms tidy and organised for the benefit of everyone. Over the three years at Lightwater Village School, a child’s first years in school, we aim to give children every opportunity to achieve their academic potential and develop socially so that they are ready to move on to the next stage of their education.
