Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE)

The well-being of the children is of great importance to us and we work hard to ensure that each child is supported emotionally as well as academically.  Their successes are celebrated and children are always encouraged to achieve.

This is a child's first experience of school and it is vital that we offer an experience that nurtures and encourages children to grow their personal and social skills. Children learn best when they are happy, confident and secure, and we ensure that the opportunities we offer build every child’s self-esteem and support their development as responsible and caring people. We have a full programme of social and emotional learning which enables children to talk through themes such as building relationships, changes, getting on and falling out and the best ways to handle difficult times and the feelings these bring. We celebrate the talents and progress the children make through special mentions in our Celebration Book, on our Caring Tree and even Star of the Week. Over the year we focus on 6 values, 1 per term.  These are:

  • Respect
  • Co-operation
  • Resilience
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Trust
  • Responsibility

We focus on the meaning of each value and how we can demonstrate them.

We have a Recognition of Commitment to Unicef's Convention of the Rights of the Child and are working towards Level 1 of The Rights, Respecting Schools Award.  As a school, we have also achieved the Silver Anti-bullying Charter Mark which supports and encourages the well-being of all staff and children.
