A Thoughtful Day to Promote Antibullying

On Friday 5th January it was 'Antibullying Day' at Lightwater Village School.

Over the course of the day pupils enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities linked to celebrating our differences and discussing what makes each of us special. Through discussion the children found out a lot about each other which was great fun, and used this learning to create a lovely display in the front entrance where you can learn all about what makes us all unique - please pop in and take a look!  We also talked about why it is so important to be fair and treat everyone equally.

During the day each year group took part in activities that were suited to their age group. Year R focused on friendship and what makes a positive relationship.  Years 1 and 2 spent time learning about why people might bully and the differences between falling out and bullying, as well as understanding the importance of telling someone you trust if you feel you or someone else might be being bullied. Some of the other activities involved watching a 'bullying' clip from our new KS1 PSHE scheme (1 Decision) and deciding on the best outcome by selecting the follow up video. We also used role play to help us understand how someone might feel if they were displaying bullying behaviour or being bullied and lastly all the children, staff and governors signed their names on the whole school Antibullying Charter which is displayed just outside our hall.

Each child will have brought home a Wellbeing Leaflet for Pupils which we hope will be helpful for both children and parents.
