About the School Day

At Lightwater School we have a routine to our school day. The routine for Reception pupils is a little different to Years 1 and 2.

Reception Pupils

Do you go to breakfast club? The breakfast club is a fun start to your day where you can enjoy breakfast, games and time with friends. It's open 7:30am - 8:45am.

8:40am   The doors open and your teacher or TA greet you. When you get into school please:

- Put your coat, water bottle, book bag and packed lunch (if you have one) away

- Change your reading book if you need to

-Choose your lunch if you have a school dinner

- Say you are here when the teacher takes the register

9am    After registration you will have your first lesson.  This is usually maths or literacy.  You will then have free flow time or 'decided on learning' when you can choose your activity and go into Holly or Sycamore classroom depending on the activity you want to do.

10:30am   You will have some time to have a good drink from your water bottle or milk, and your snack which is a fruit or vegetable.

11am  Everyone has phonics at 11am. You will go with your phonics group to practice your phonics with a teacher or teaching assistant. You might use songs and pictures to help you learn the different phonic sounds.

12pm  It's lunchtime! You will need to wash your hands before lunch and then line up to go into the hall, with your coloured lunch band on. If you need help cutting up your food you can put your hand up and a lunchtime supervisor will help you. You should put your hand up before eating your pudding, so the ladies can make sure you have eaten enough to keep your energy up during the afternoon.  When you have eaten your lunch you can put your coat on and go out to play until 'lining up' time.

1:15pm  Once lunchtime has ended at 1:15pm, your teacher will take the register once more. You will have another lesson and then some more 'decided-on learning' time.  On Mondays you will have music with Mr Langdon. You may also do Yoga and handwriting practice.

2:30pm  It's story time.  After a story you will need to get your things ready to go home.

3pm   It's home time! You will be collected by your mummy, daddy or another grown-up.

Do you do an after school club or go to SCL?  Your teacher or TA will take you to the room where your club takes place.
