GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Attendance and Absence Reporting

If your child is ill, please call the School Office on 01276 473346, by 8.30am.

We have very high levels of pupil attendance at our school. Our pupil attendance target for 2021/22 is 97%.

If your child is ill.

  • Please call the School Office in the morning on 01276 473346, preferably before 8.30am.
  • Wait for the message, choose the absent child option and then leave details as to why your child will not be in school.
  • Please ensure that you provide your child's name, their class and full details of what is wrong with them (please give specific symptoms, do not just say that they are 'unwell').
  • You can also use the ParentMail App to report absences before 8.30am or send an email to the school office (info@lightwatervillageschool.org). If we have not heard from you by 10am and your child is absent, we will follow this up with a telephone call.

Please do not send your child to school if they're unwell or have a high temperature controlled by paracetamol or ibuprofen

In line with NHS guidelines, we ask that parents keep their children at home for a period of 48 hours following their last episode of vomiting and/or diarrhoea to stop the spread of any bugs.

Please also do not send your child to school if they have a contagious illness such as chicken pox.

Prescribed Medications:

Children can attend school if they are on prescribed medication (e.g. antibiotics) but only if they are well enough to enjoy the day at school.  If your child will require medication administered during the school day, you will need to complete a pupil medication form (available from the school office) and ensure that the medicine is given directly to an adult when they are dropped off at school - children should NOT keep any medicines in their book bags.

If your child feels ill during the school day:

If your child feels unwell during the school day, we will need to contact you. It is vital that we have the contact details of at least two trusted adults who could be reached in case of emergency.

Covid:

Please inform the office as soon as possible if your child has a positive LFT or PCR, follow advice given and inform us of the return to School date.

Medical Appointments:

Time off from school to attend medical appointments is of course allowed but we ask that non urgent appointments such as dentist, routine vaccinations, etc be made outside of school hours where possible. If your child has a hospital or specialist appointment please email or bring the appointment letter to the school office where a copy can be placed on their file as proof of authorised absence. All collections during the school day are via the school office.

Other planned absences

If you know in advance that your child is going to be absent from school, then please request a “Leave of absence” form from the school office. Unplanned absences need to be followed up with a letter explaining the reason for absence.
