Reception News
We have had a busy couple of weeks in Reception! During our literacy lessons we have been focusing on the stories Mrs Noah’s Garden and The Tiny Seed. We have focused a lot on describing different objects by using expanded noun phrases for example: The small red seed.
In maths we have been continuing to develop our understanding of counting up to 20 and finding ways to count things that cannot be seen (i.e.: clapping/seconds) We have also been developing our subitising skills with numbers to 10.
Linking to our STEAM topic this term, we have had a fantastic school trip to RHS Wisley. We enjoyed the sunshine, had a great time making observational drawings and learning all about how plants grow and what they need to grow efficiently.
In Reception we have also been making the most of the glorious sunshine by exploring our outside areas, looking for minibeasts and planting the lovely plants that the children have brought in. The children understand that plants need soil, sun and water to grow. They are getting better at digging down to dig a deeper hole, and love getting their hands messy patting the soil around the plants! Thank you for all your donations.
Thank you Reception for a lovely first few weeks back at school!
