Reception - Summer Learning
Oh no! The evil pea has been sneaking about the Early Years Unit. Luckily Reception children were on hand. They designed, made and reviewed some traps to catch the Evil Pea. They also wrote some wonderful descriptions of the Evil Pea on wanted posters which were put up around the unit.
We also enjoyed learning all about the deforestation of the rainforest through the story 'There's a rangatang in my bedroom'. We had a peaceful protest in the playground and enjoyed making posters for our cause.
In maths this term we have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about evens, odds, equal and doubles as well as the composition of number.
We have had some very healthy strawberry plants this year. The children have enjoyed picking them and eating them for snack.
Amongst the very sunny days we have also had a few rainy days too. The children loved getting into their puddle suits and playing in the rain. A highlight included taking some tin foil out into the sandpit and making water proof channels for the water, we made some great rivers, lakes and islands. The mud kitchen was also very busy, with the children making soup and hot chocolate for everyone.
We also enjoyed welcoming parents to watch our year group assembly. It celebrated all the incredible learning we have done this year. The children were very confident saying their lines and singing songs- well done reception. We were so amazed by how well you did we forgot to take pictures!
