What Have Reception Been Up To?

We have had a wonderful couple of weeks reading the story Look up! The children were especially excited to see pictures by our favourite illustrator Dapo Adeola. Last week the children drew pictures to show what they would like to be when they grew up, and they wrote some letters to cheer Rocket up. This week we have been writing our own versions of the story by making little books.

In our understanding the world sessions we have also been learning about space and planets, so our provision has had lots of different space related activities in. The children have particularly enjoyed making moon sand and have had great fun making rocks, and crashing rockets into the surface of the moon!

We have also been learning how to play the Djembe drums in music. We learnt a call and response song called Che Che Kule which the children loved.

In computing we have been learning about algorithms by finding out computers only do what they are told to do. We gave each other instructions on how to put clothes on, but we had to do exactly what was said! We then learnt about debugging-correcting our mistakes.
