Year 2 News
Wow! What a busy two weeks in Year 2.
We have been learning about fractions in maths and drew our learning to a close with a brilliant lesson making fractions on wraps! The children love the practical elements in our lessons, so it was a real hit.
In PE we have been learning the intricacies of cricket while also starting to develop our athletics skills in preparation for Sports Day next half term.
English has been amazing too. We made our class animal report books, and each child wrote a non-chronological report on an animal of their choosing. We had everything from bees and unicorns to dogs and cheetahs. The children worked really hard on their writing and should all be very proud of themselves.
We have also loved learning about Sir David Attenborough, habitats and climates in readiness to make our own nature documentaries. The children have painted their own backgrounds, written scripts and recalled what makes a successful presenter. We can’t wait to watch them back!
In wider school life, we were lucky enough to have some time with the ducklings that were in our Reception and Nursery. The children were kind and respectful to each other while sharing the ducks but also showed a lot of respect for the animals by handling them gently and not making too much noise.
Our singing club also performed during our Friday celebration assembly last week and did an excellent job! They sang beautifully to Bruno Mars’ ‘Count on me’, the rest of the school were highly impressed. It takes a lot of bravery to sing in front of the rest of your school so well done to singing club!
Mrs Cox has also started Maypole rehearsals, and it is looking wonderful already! Keep an eye out for them at the Lightwater Village Fete!
Have a lovely half term and we are looking forward to seeing you for a jam-packed final half term!
