Aldershot Football Club Bridges Cup Tournament

What an incredible day for Lightwater at the Aldershot Football Club Bridges Cup Tournament on 29th April — both our girls’ and boys’ teams absolutely smashed it!

Boys’ Team – Plate Champions!

The boys battled through some seriously tough matches, showing real grit and teamwork throughout the tournament. Their semi-final was a nail‑biter, but thanks to some outstanding saves from our goalie, Oli, and a fantastic goal from Arthur, they secured their place in the final.

With nerves running high, the boys held their focus. The final was tense, competitive, and full of energy but they did it! A brilliant 1–0 win crowned them Plate Trophy Champions. A phenomenal achievement.

Girls’ Team – Cup Champions!

The girls also faced strong competition, pushing through challenging matches to earn their spot in the semi-finals. The semi ended 0–0, taking them to penalties — never an easy moment. But Emilia stepped up with some fabulous saves, sending the team through to the final.

The final was just as dramatic. The girls went 1–0 up, only for an equaliser to sneak in during the last minute, taking them once again to penalties. With incredible composure, determination, and some brilliant strikes and saves, the girls became Cup Champions! Again a phenomenal achievement.

We are so proud of both teams — their resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship were outstanding. It was a fantastic tournament for Lightwater, and every player should feel incredibly proud of what they achieved.

Well done, everyone!
